Disney Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
Welcome to
Walt Disney World Resorts largest theme park. As of 2010 it holds
the record as being the fourth most visited amusement park in the
United States and ranks seventh as most visited in the world!
That being said the Disney Animal
Kingdom theme park is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums
as having exceeded or met the standards in education, conservation
and research. It’s 500 acres are home to 250 animal species
found throughout the park and made up of seven themed areas.
- The Oasis is
at the main entrance to the park and houses various guest services
and several animal habitats surrounded by lush tropical gardens complete
with waterfalls and winding streams. It also provides park
guests with an entrance to the Rainforest Cafe. Please keep
your admission ticket to return to the park.
- The park’s icon, the
Tree of Life is located on Discovery Island which
connects most of the other sections of the park as it is located
in the center of the theme park. It hosts two of the parks
major restaurants and some of the park’s largest gift shops,
each sporting a different animal theme.
- Meet your favorite Disney
characters at Camp Minnie-Mickey which
is a themed rustic summer camp. There are four separate greeting
areas are named Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Brother Bear. One
of our favorite things to see in this area is The Festival of the
Lion King live stage show musical that will delight you and your
family with familiar, well-loved songs and characters from the
movie. Another favorite Disney movie comes to life in the stage
production Pocahontas and Her Forest Friends.
- Set in a fictional African village, Africa brings
Africa's animals and their habitats in well thought out exhibits
your family will enjoy experiencing. Take an exciting ride in an
open-sided safari vehicle to see these amazing animals as they roam
freely through the savannas, rivers and hillsides of the eastern
African setting. Go in search of gorillas on the Pangani Forest Exploration
Trail. Nature trails take your through a lush African valley teaming
with hippos, fish and native birds.
- Before you leave Africa climb aboard the Wildlife Express Train
where you will travel to and from the area known as Rafiki's
Plant Watch. Divided into three unique areas, you will first
encounter and learn about the endangered cottontop tamarins in the
Habitat Habit! You will see them in their natural homes. The Walt
Disney Company supports many conservation efforts and the Conservation
Station provides a behind-the-scenes look into the Animal Kingdom's
animal care facilities. Lastly, your youngest family members are
sure to delight in the Affection Section which features sheep, goats
and other animals in a petting zoo atmosphere.
- You'll know that you are in Dinoland USA from
the minute you step into this area, walking under the amazing 40-50
foot Brachiosaurus skeleton that extends across the "Olden Gate
Bridge". As you walk along the Cretaceous Trail you will be
taken back into the time of the dinosaurs as you find yourself among
the plants and animals from this era. In this area you will also
be able to gaze upon the most complete casting ever found of the
infamous Tyrannosaurus rex fossil. At the edge of the park is the
Theater of the Wild where guests can relax and enjoy a Disney-Pixar
life-action musical, Finding Nemo-The Musical. Perhaps the most popular
attraction in Dinoland is the thrilling ride through the late Cretaceous
period called DINOSAUR.
- In Asia, you will come across two beautiful river
villages located at the base of the Himalayan Mountains within the
amazing fictitious kingdom of Anandapur. You and your family will
be delighted by the live bird show called Flights of Wonder at the
Caravan Stage. Observe tigers, Komodo dragons, tapirs and other animals
as you travel through ruins outside the village and through the forests
on the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Other attractions include a ride through
the rapids on the Kali River Rapids and a roller coaster ride on
the forbidden mountain called Expedition Everest.
If you love to visit Disney and plan to visit more than just once,
we have found that purchasing a magic your way ticket with multiple
days on it (ie. a 7 day pass, or a 10 day pass) with the no expiration
option enables you to visit multiple times for a much smaller price
per day.
